Considera i luoghi.
In this vast, labyrinthine world, there are things, people, places, and sensations reserved for a few. It’s not a matter of privilege. It’s something more subtle. More intimate. It’s about choice. Affinity. And thus, a selection that happens on its own.
Think of a person. A friend. Not just any friend, but a friend who sneaks into your days simply by being there. And they color them, change them, help you understand them. Not everyone can grasp the value in the pauses of their speech, the strength they seek to express in their written words, the wisdom hidden in their advice. Understanding them is a privilege reserved for a few, for those who have chosen to look beyond, to dig beneath the surface. To offer themselves, to seek a deeper connection.
Consider the places. There are corners of the world that seem to speak only to a select group of people. A dense forest, a mysterious street in an unknown city, the expanse of water of a lake that seems motionless today, yet has caressed history. These are not places for everyone. They are reserved for those who feel a connection with them, for those who are drawn to that invisible magnetism. These places are personal choices, selections that reflect our inner selves and serve to communicate and share.
Lastly, there are objects. The book read a thousand times with its pages worn, the camera that accompanies you on all adventures, the old sweatshirt with the drawing of a hydroplane. These are not objects for everyone. They are for those who can appreciate the value that, over time and through sharing, expresses the history of an endeavor and the hidden symbolism in shapes and colors. These objects evoke unique and unrepeatable moments, stories that become personal and singular.
Being destined for a few doesn’t mean being exclusive or elitist. It rather means being authentic, expressing an unfathomable depth to most, carrying a meaning that only a few can understand.
The balance seems to reside in a kind of paradox: much within the little, in a natural selection of exclusivity. When many people frequent the same place or possess the same thing, it loses value because its essence disperses into the undifferentiated mass. But when objects, people, or places are protected and destined for a few, then they become authentically significant, charged with an energy that only those few can perceive and grasp. It’s as if the intensity of the experience is amplified by a kind of selective sharing.
Thus, the balance is always found in the little that is balanced with the much: few and precious bonds that contrast with the frenzy of impersonal possession, rather providing a sense of genuine and deep belonging among those who know and desire, who want to look beyond the surface of everything and right away. The intention is not to sell to everyone, but to share an emotion with those few who know how to grasp it: a powerfully evocative concept that we greatly appreciate. And in such a crowded and chaotic world, this kind of privilege, this willingness not to be for everyone, in order to find like-mindedness among the few, is one of the most precious gifts.
